Joining us

If you’re starting a PhD or MPhil, you’ll need to do two things. First, you will need to be admitted to the university, which means finding a supervisor, putting in an application, and being accepted into one of our host departments. Finding a supervisor means going to the list of people on this web site, checking out their research, and then contacting them directly.  You can begin the formal application process hereSecond, when you’ve done that paperwork, to join our program, give us your details (including your supervisor), and we’ll contact your supervisor to confirm things, then add you to the Program. Register here or use our general contact form if you’d like more information.

If you’re already enrolled at Melbourne, register here. You should have read about the Program. have talked about it with your supervisors, and be happy with what’s expected – from you and by you!

If you’re a University of Melbourne staff member, please use this link.

Please note that you can still study for a PhD at the University of Melbourne, in the Schools of BioSciences, Forest & Ecosystem Sciences and Geography without being part of this Program.  Such a PhD will still be a recognised international qualification, you will still receive outstanding supervision. Perhaps, for example, you feel that you cannot commit to the Program charter or the additional effort that is needed.  The difference is that you will not be able to take advantage of the extra level of training and development that the Program offers and the additional certification that comes with it.
